If you want to increase your engagement with fans through social sharing, then you will want make sure that sharing your message is as easy as possible.  Here are five ways to mobilize your fans to share your message and increase your brand’s reach on the social sphere.

1. Make It Easy to Follow You

In order to share your messages, your fans must be following you to hear it.  Make it easy for your fans to follow you by employing the following.

  • Official Social Network Buttons – Twitte, Facebook, Google+, and LinkedInoffer buttons, boxes, and badges that you can add to your website to make it easy for your fans to follow you in one or two clicks.  If you don’t want to use those, then you can add socialmediaicons to your website and link them to your social profiles.
  • An RSS Feed – If you want your fans to share the latest content from your blog, make it easy for them to subscribe by offering an RSS feed.  Most blogging platforms have one built in – just find the link and publicize it!
  • An Email Subscription Option – Email subscribers are the best. Instead of hoping someone will see your message in their news feed, you can get your message directly into their inbox.  Be sure to offer an email subscription option so you can reach your fans directly with your latest news.

2. Make It Easy to Share Your Messages

As noted in our previous post on socialsharing, you will want to make it easy for your fans to share your message by adding social sharing buttons to your website’s content.

If you want your fans to share a status update on social media, simply encourage them to use the Share link beneath the update.  Most of the time, a quick call to action will ensure that your message reaches more people.

3. Explain How to Share

In some industries, like online marketing, social sharing is second nature.  In others, however, your fans might not be 100% sure how they should be sharing your message.  Create a page on your website where you can explain to your fans how to share your message.

Remember that nothing is too basic!  If you’re not sure what needs to be explained, asked someone you know who is not familiar with social media to sit down with you, navigate your website, check out your social profiles, and share something.   You might be surprised what the average user doesn’t know about a social platform they use regularly.

4. Offer Incentives

One way that people get their message spread is by creating a contest.  For example, Trackur offered an iPad 3 for members who signed up for a free account and tweeted a simple message.

The result: lots of free (minus the cost of the iPad) word of mouth marketing about their service!  You don’t have to giveaway an iPad to get attention – if you have a strong brand, just give away a sampling of your product or service.  People who have been longing to try it out will be happy to share your message in exchange!

5. Create a Program of Sharing

If you want to really bring your fans together to get the word out about your brand, you can do so with SocialToaster
